I came across an artist by the name of EL. I admire his work. EL gets his inspiration for his pieces from human conditions, conspiracies, and the expansion of consciousness. This painting is named "mark of the beast". This piece is a digital painting with an acrylic layer. EL considers himself to be a traditional artist, he utilizes software to produce art work that has the feel of a painting. I believe this piece is about the human race become enslaved in technology.

Work due each Sunday....
As you know, work is due each Sunday night at the latest for the current week. I use the work as evidence of attendance which I am required to take by the college.
For this week, 1 artist review and the filter experiments will count as one attendance record each. The college does have a strict policy that removes a student from class when they reach 4 absences... Tough but defensive as they are trying to head off student loan defaults in the future.
When using "found" images on Google Images, be sure to search for "large" images that are at least 1,500 to 2,000 pixels along the long side... the quality of your work will be much better and I'll be able to see what you are doing much better... When you click on an image in the blog, it opens to a new, full size window.
Do post all of your work here and not in fotothing as the class is small...

Unusual Photography
Jale Arditti is a photographer living in Israel. Like most artists she has a passion for her work but in her case its more of an addiction. Her appeal is more of an abstract nature in that she doesn't care for traditional shots like landscapes. Jale feels a connection to her subjects. She is fascinated by things such as rusty locks and barbed wire. In a faded rose she sees a road leading to the end and a bird connects her to her freedom. In a dog she sees loyalty, in a cat she sees selfishness. Jale is also an author, entrepreneur and food coneusier she has written books in both English and French. I found some of her work to be vivid and colorful and all of it to be interesting.
Assignment 1
I should mention that I am actually taking a different class. I am enrolled in "Two Dimensional Design", but I was the only student in the class so Professor Nevins invited me to participate in this blog. I just wanted to mention this so you didn't think I was crazy for posting completely different assignments.
The Dot
The first assignment was to create five separate frames and place a single dot with a corresponding description for each frame.
I was attempting to illustrate a life cycle. Not a human life cycle of birth and death, but the life cycle of a product, trend, or even social or professional status. You can watch the slideshow on Fotothing: http://www.fotothing.com/slideshow.php?id=apab12d4

Hello
Hello,
My name is Anthony Pascale and I am in my third module at Albertus. While I am technically still in the "undeclared" phase, I am aiming to double major in Healthcare Management and Philosophy & Religion. So far, I have had a great experience. I decided to take this class to enhance my digital art skills. I currently have two live websites and a third one in the making that all need life to be breathed into them. So I am hoping this class plays a part. My fotothing screen name is apab12d4.
Hello All
Hi All,
I`m Terrence Dowdye and I`m very much looking forward to taking this class. Digital Imagery is a fascinating subject that allows you to express your creativity in so many different ways. I`m looking forward to interacting and sharing posts with everyone.

Fotothing...
When I have a large class, it is easier not to put too many images on the blog, so I said in the syllabus and rubric to post your experiments in excess of one or two to fotothing.com. Since the class is small, it would be easier just to keep everything here... less work for both you and me!
So each time you do a project, work in series... do at least 5 or 6 variations and put everything here...
Hope that helps.

Jonathan Bailey
I came across this painting created by Jonathan Bailey in MOCA and it was the first one that I liked. It makes me think of a contemporary dance piece. There is alot of emotion in the movement of the people and colors surrounding them.
Jonathan Bailey started out as a musician before becoming a digital artist. He says his work "reflects the spiritual aspects and spiritual experiences of my life."
The title of the painting is Released.

I have taken Digital Photography 1 with Professor Nevins. I learned quite a bit and enjoyed the class! I'm looking forward to the same experience in this one.

Alexis Digart
Alexis Digart
I think I was drawn to Alexis Digart because he isn't trying to be veryabstract. I feel he displays a real talent and not just a clever intuition fordisplaying an idea in an abstract digital format. Mr. Digart is also an accomplished painter who's paintings and collections have been purchased around the world. This electronic water color is a landscape and I had to double check to be sure it wasn't in fact a canvas painting.

Week 1 MOCA
After browsing the Museum of Computer Art, the artist that I found the most interesting was Domen Lomberag. Domen Lomberag defines his style as expressionistic, hyper realistic, and surrealistic. Domen believes the computer screen is his canvas and his tablet is his brush. He is adept with color and the embedding of texts in his images. The title of the painting listed below is "Birth of Venus". Looking at this painting, I was amazed at the details of the picture.

Welcome to Introduction to Computer Art
Welcome to Introduction to Computer Art I have been teaching Digital Photography I and II and The Museum Experience, Two Dimensional Design and Graphic Design I and II in an online format for the past 9 years.... this is the 7th time I am offering Introduction to Computer Art in this online format as well... The class revolves around creating a portfolio of images. Your grade will be based on a combination of the portfolio you create and your participation in supporting this online learning experience and of each other. Class runs from August 25th - October 15, 2014 .
If you wonder if you need to be a “geek” in order to succeed in this class, don’t worry. I have designed it to be taken by non-artist-non-computer students. The main issue is to have a good working computer with a high speed broadband connection and the willingness to dig in and have some fun.
The first week will be about getting up to speed in creating your accounts and getting your software image editing program working.
I don't use eLearning for my online classes as it is somewhat clunky in handling visual portfolios and blogging. I host the syllabus on my website, jnevins.com. Take a look around there to look at my teaching philosophy, syllabi, portfolios of my own work, tutorials and more...
Here is a link to the syllabus for this class: http://jnevins.com/introductiontocomputerart.htm
There you will find links to each project, the class blog and the class online portfolio at http://fotothing.com . Each project is described in detail and I have created videos to accompany each project to take you through it step by step. Pause them as you go along and replay as many times as you need to.
Important!.... click on the link in the email I will have blogger send you it will be from Jerry (me)... There are instruction on creating an account at blogger and joining the class blog... you don't need to create your own blog... just join the class one..
Download and install your image editing program... Adobe gives you a full month free from http://Adobe.com/downloads You can download Photoshop elements 11 first then follow up with a new download of Photoshop CS6 as that is expiring and get a full 8 weeks of use for free... All other software you’ll need is also free. Details are in the syllabus. If you prefer, install CS6 first as that is the full professional version of Photoshop. Adobe has recently come out with Photoshop CC, which can also be had for a free 30 day trial. All of the tools and procedures are there that I demonstrate in the videos.
I want you to have fun with this class and not get hung up on any of the technical stuff... Once you get rolling, you'll see it is fun and very engaging...
Don't hesitate to email me anytime and I will get right back to you. You can always call me at home if you are stuck! Looking forward to working with you over the next 8 weeks! 201, Introduction to Computer Art
